Hydrogen therapy – what do people actually mean?

Hydrogen therapy is one of the most common phrases people search for when they start reading about molecular hydrogen. The words sound medical — but in the EU, hydrogen is not a medicine or an approved treatment. Here is what the term usually covers, and what actually applies.

The term

An umbrella word for several ways of using hydrogen.

When people say hydrogen therapy they usually mean one of two delivery formats: breathing hydrogen at a low, controlled concentration during a session (hydrogen inhalation), or drinking hydrogen-rich water. In Japan and parts of Asia, hydrogen is also used in clinical settings — but that says nothing about how it may be presented or used here.

In the EU

Hydrogen is not an approved medicine or medical treatment. What is offered here are products for general wellbeing.

The research

Molecular hydrogen is actively studied, including for its role in oxidative balance. The evidence is promising but not sufficient for clinical recommendations. Read the studies.

Inhalation

A focused session where low-concentration hydrogen is inhaled — the more concentrated format. How it works.

Hydrogen water

Hydrogen dissolved in drinking water — lower concentration, but quick and flexible. Hydrogen water guide.

We do not use the word therapy for what we offer. Lita Air and Lita Aqua are wellness products, not medical devices, and a trial session is an experience — not care, treatment or medical advice.
